Resealing a leaking shower tray
A typical bathroom job: water marks appearing on a downstairs ceiling below a shower, traced to failed sealant and a tired waste seal, put right in a single visit.

Helping Swarland households with home and garden jobs, from childproofing and new furniture to bathroom fixes and hedge trimming, delivered by a friendly family-run team.
Swarland lies just west of the A1 in rural mid-Northumberland, about 11.8 miles north of our Ashington base. It is towards the edge of the area we cover, so we tend to plan Swarland visits alongside work in Felton, Longframlington or Warkworth. We have been a family-run handyman business since 2018, and we still believe no job is too small.
Swarland homeowners call us for flat-pack furniture, bathroom and kitchen fixes, garden tidying, babyproofing for growing families and a long tail of small repairs. We aim to arrive prepared, work tidily and leave you with a home that works the way it should.

Swarland is unusual among the villages in this part of Northumberland. Much of it was laid out in the twentieth century rather than growing slowly around a church or farm, so you will find more detached houses and bungalows set in roomy plots, with wide verges and plenty of trees, rather than long rows of old stone terraces. Newer homes have been added over the years, and there is older farm property around the edges.
Bungalows and mid-century homes often need updating in stages: kitchens and bathrooms with ageing sealant and hinges, internal doors that have warped, and older light fittings due for replacement. Larger plots mean more hedging, fencing, lawn and paving to keep on top of.
Being surrounded by woodland and farmland, gutters and paths collect leaves and needles every autumn, and shaded patios and decking stay damp and slippery. Families moving into the village for space and countryside often want help making a new house safe and practical for young children.
Families are a big part of our Swarland work, and babyproofing is a common booking: stair gates, cupboard locks, window restrictors, and anchoring bookcases and wardrobes to the wall so they cannot topple.
Moving in or redecorating usually means new furniture, and our flat-pack assembly service saves an afternoon of frustration with wardrobes, beds, cots and storage.
In older bungalows, bathroom repairs come up regularly, including resealing, replacing loose tiles, fixing toilets and sorting dripping showers.
With so many generous gardens, gardening services also keep us busy: hedge trimming, clearing leaves, cutting back overgrowth and tidying borders ahead of spring or before a house goes on the market.
We often combine these with general odd jobs, such as hanging pictures, fitting curtain poles, replacing door handles or fixing a loose fence panel.
Good to know
No, Swarland is within our area, though it is towards the northern edge. We group visits with nearby jobs in Felton and Longframlington, so it may take a little longer to get a date for a very small, one-off task.
For the top of the stairs, a screw-fitted gate is the safer choice, as pressure-fit gates can be pushed out. We will look at your banisters and walls and advise on the best fitting method for your home.
Single-storey gutters are usually straightforward for us to clear safely. We can also check downpipes for blockages and refit loose brackets. Taller properties or difficult access may need specialist equipment, and we will tell you if so.
We help with the jobs that put buyers off: touching up paint, fixing sticking doors, replacing broken handles, resealing bathrooms and tidying the garden. A pre-sale list done in one or two visits can make a real difference.
For ongoing work like garden maintenance, we can often arrange visits on a regular pattern that fits our northern route. Tell us what you need and we will see what we can offer.
Services
Every service below is available in Swarland and the villages around it. Tap one for the full details.
We usually get to Swarland by heading west from Ashington to join the A1 near Morpeth, then going north past Felton to the Swarland turning, which takes around twenty-five minutes. Most homes have drives or space on the road outside, so parking is rarely an issue.
Phone 07960 485 880 or use our contact form, and include photos where you can. Because of the distance, we strongly suggest combining several jobs into one booking. A list such as a stair gate, a wardrobe and a hedge trim can often be done in a single visit, and we will plan the time around it.
Reviews
Fantastic experience from the first enquiry through to completion. Nothing was too much trouble, and the whole process was handled professionally. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a dependable service in Ashington.
We were really pleased with the quality of the work and the attention to detail on our IKEA flat-pack furniture. We were missing some parts, and the guys had them in their tool bag. A reliable local service we’d definitely use again.
Excellent service from start to finish. The team was friendly, professional and made everything straightforward. I’d happily recommend them to anyone in Ashington and the surrounding area.
