Resealing a leaking shower tray
A typical bathroom job: water marks appearing on a downstairs ceiling below a shower, traced to failed sealant and a tired waste seal, put right in a single visit.

A family-run handyman team from just up the road in Ashington, helping Bedlington households with repairs, fitting and the small jobs that never seem to get done.
Handyman Ashington has been working across south-east Northumberland since 2018, and Bedlington is one of the towns we visit most. We are a family-run team, and our base in Ashington is only around three and a half miles away, so getting to you rarely takes more than a few minutes once the Spine Road is clear.
Most of our Bedlington work comes from homeowners, tenants and landlords who have a list of jobs rather than one big project: a dripping tap, a door that sticks, a wardrobe still in its box, a room that needs a fresh coat of paint. We are happy to take on those smaller tasks, and we will tell you plainly if something needs a specialist instead. Have a look at our full list of services to see what we cover.

Bedlington grew up as a market town and later became a busy mining and ironworking community, and you can still read that history in its housing. The older stone buildings around Front Street sit in a conservation area, while streets of brick terraced houses built for colliery families spread out towards Bedlington Station and Barrington. After the war came large council estates, and more recently several new-build developments on the edges of town.
Each of these brings its own maintenance pattern. Older terraces often have sash or early replacement windows, tired internal doors and small bathrooms where pipework has been added over the decades and left on show. Post-war semis tend to need kitchen updates, worn worktops and fence repairs. Newer homes are usually sound but come with flat-pack furniture to build, shelves and TV brackets to hang, and snagging items that the builder never quite finished.
Bedlington also has plenty of rented property, so landlords regularly need quick turnarounds between tenants: patching walls, refreshing paintwork, fixing door handles and making sure everything works before new people move in.
Across Bedlington the requests we see most often fall into a few groups:
These come up because so much of the town's housing is decades old and well lived in. Nothing is badly wrong; it simply needs regular care, and a handyman is usually the quickest way to keep on top of it.
Good to know
Yes. We treat the whole of Bedlington as one area, including Bedlington Station, Barrington, Netherton and the newer estates on the edges. If your address has an NE22 postcode, we will almost certainly be able to reach you.
We can help with many interior jobs and like-for-like repairs. For changes to the outside of a building in a conservation area, check with Northumberland County Council first, as some alterations need consent before any work starts.
That is a common Bedlington request. We can patch and paint walls, fix doors and handles, reseal bathrooms, replace blinds and check fittings, working through a landlord's checklist so the property is ready for the next tenant.
Usually not, but space can be tight at busy times. We carry most tools and materials in the van, so a spot within a short walk of your door is fine. Just mention any permit or access issues when booking.
Where our diary allows, we try to arrange times that suit you, including first thing. Let us know your preferred window when you get in touch and we will do our best to fit around it.
Services
Every service below is available in Bedlington and the villages around it. Tap one for the full details.
From Ashington we head south on the A189 Spine Road and turn off for Bedlington, which puts us in town within ten minutes or so on a normal day. Many terraced streets have on-street parking only, so it helps to let us know if there are restrictions or if you can keep a space free near the door.
To book, call us on 07960 485 880 or use the contact form with a short description and, ideally, a couple of photos. If you have several small tasks, send the whole list at once. Grouping them into one visit makes better use of our time and yours.
Reviews
Fantastic experience from the first enquiry through to completion. Nothing was too much trouble, and the whole process was handled professionally. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a dependable service in Ashington.
We were really pleased with the quality of the work and the attention to detail on our IKEA flat-pack furniture. We were missing some parts, and the guys had them in their tool bag. A reliable local service we’d definitely use again.
Excellent service from start to finish. The team was friendly, professional and made everything straightforward. I’d happily recommend them to anyone in Ashington and the surrounding area.

Anything from hanging a single mirror to a few days of decorating or carpentry. We are a handyman team rather than a building firm, so for large structural projects we may suggest a specialist, but there is no job too small for us to consider.
We handle minor electrical tasks such as swapping light fittings, replacing sockets or switches like-for-like and fitting extractor fans or outdoor lights. Any notifiable work under Part P is carried out by, or signed off by, a registered electrician. If in doubt, ask us first.
No. We never touch gas appliances or boilers. Our plumbing covers taps, toilets, showers, leaks and connecting washing machines. For anything involving gas, you will need a Gas Safe registered engineer. We will always tell you if a problem looks gas-related.
Send us a description of the job by phone or through the contact form, with photos if you can. For straightforward tasks we can often give a clear idea up front; for larger ones we may suggest a quick visit to look first.
Yes. We put down dust sheets where needed, clear away offcuts and packaging, and leave the room as we found it, minus the problem. If there is waste you would like taken away, mention it when booking so we can plan for it.
Tell us what needs fixing, fitting or finishing and we'll get back to you with a clear, free quote.
