Every home has one: the list of small jobs that are too fiddly to book a specialist for and too awkward to fit into a weekend. A curtain pole that has pulled out of the plaster, a cracked tile by the back door, a cat flap still in its box. Since 2018 we have been working through lists like these for households across Ashington, and it remains one of the most popular things we do.
Because our handymen cover a wide range of trades, one visit can often take care of jobs that would otherwise need a joiner, a plumber and a decorator. We arrive with a well-stocked van, so common fixings, sealant and spare parts are usually to hand. No job is too small, and we are happy to help older residents, landlords and busy families alike.
The sort of jobs we sort out

Odd jobs vary from house to house, but these come up again and again:
- Putting up shelves, mirrors, pictures, curtain poles and blinds
- Easing sticking doors and fitting new handles, hinges or draught strips
- Replacing cracked tiles and refreshing tired silicone
- Fitting cat and dog flaps in doors and panels
- Mounting TVs on brackets with cables tidied away
- Swapping a dripping tap washer or a worn toilet seat
- Patching small holes and cracks in plaster
- Small fence and gate repairs in the garden
If something on your list needs a different service, such as flat-pack assembly or minor electrical work, we can usually include it on the same day.
Making the most of your visit

The best way to book odd jobs is to send us your full list when you get in touch. Photos help too, especially for anything that needs a particular part. We then plan the visit, bring what we need and give you an idea of how long the work should take.
On the day we start with whatever matters most to you and work down the list. If we spot something else, such as a loose stair rod or a dripping overflow, we will mention it and let you decide whether to add it. We clean up after each task rather than leaving it all to the end. Many customers keep a running list on the fridge and call us back every few months, which is a sensible way to stop small problems turning into bigger ones.
Before you call
A few simple steps help us get more done for you in the time:
- Have any items you have bought, such as shelves, blinds or poles, unpacked and in the right room.
- Decide on heights and positions for pictures, mirrors and TVs.
- Tell us about the wall type if you know it, as plasterboard and solid brick need different fixings.
- Clear a little space around each job so we can work safely.
If you are not sure whether something counts as an odd job, ask. Many jobs that look complicated turn out to be quick, and if anything needs a specialist trade we will say so honestly. You can read more common questions on our FAQ page.

FAQs
Odd Jobs: your questions answered
Is there a minimum job size?
No job is too small for us. That said, if you have several small tasks it makes sense to book them together, as we can get through a surprising number in a single visit and you only need to arrange one appointment.
Do you bring materials with you?
We carry a good stock of common fixings, wall plugs, sealant, washers and basic parts. For anything specific, such as a particular handle or blind, either buy it beforehand or ask us to source it and we will include it in your quote.
Can you help elderly relatives with jobs around the house?
Yes, and we are happy to do so. Family members often send us a list on behalf of a parent or grandparent. We explain what we are doing, take our time and make sure everything is left safe and tidy.
Do you work for landlords between tenancies?
We do. Between lets there is often a mix of small repairs, from loose handles and dripping taps to scuffed walls and broken blinds. Send us the inventory notes or a list and we will work through them so the property is ready for the next tenant.
What if a job turns out to be bigger than expected?
We will stop and explain what we have found before going any further. You can then decide whether to go ahead, book a return visit or leave it. We never add extra work to a job without talking to you first.

We were really pleased with the quality of the work and the attention to detail on our IKEA flat-pack furniture. We were missing some parts, and the guys had them in their tool bag. A reliable local service we’d definitely use again.
