Resealing a leaking shower tray
A typical bathroom job: water marks appearing on a downstairs ceiling below a shower, traced to failed sealant and a tired waste seal, put right in a single visit.

A small, family-run team from Ashington looking after Hepscott homes, from sticking cottage doors and worn skirting to garden tidies and fresh paint.
Hepscott is a quiet village a short hop south-east of Morpeth, and it sits about 3.7 miles from our base in Ashington. That makes it one of the easiest places for us to reach, so a visit for a single dripping tap or a loose handrail is never too much bother. We have been a family-run handyman business since 2018, and we work with a small team who are happy to take on the jobs bigger firms tend to turn down.
Most of what we do in Hepscott is practical upkeep: easing doors, refitting shelves, patching plaster, tidying gardens and putting right the bits that have been on the list for months. Some customers are newly moved in and want a few things sorted at once; others simply want a reliable pair of hands they can ring again.

Hepscott has a mix that you notice as soon as you drive through. Older stone cottages and former farm buildings sit alongside more recent detached houses, and there is newer housing between the village and Morpeth. Each brings its own small jobs.
In the older stone properties, timber is usually the thing that needs attention. Internal doors drop on their hinges, sash and casement windows swell after a wet spell, and skirting or architrave gets knocked about over decades. Walls are rarely perfectly straight, so shelves, curtain poles and kitchen units need fitting with a bit of patience rather than a spirit level and hope.
The larger, newer homes tend to throw up different requests: settlement cracks in fresh plaster, garden fences that need a post replacing, outdoor lights, and flat-pack furniture for home offices and spare rooms. Many have generous gardens, so hedges, patios and paths also come up.
Being on the rural edge of Morpeth, Hepscott gets the same northern weather as the rest of Northumberland. Gutters fill with leaves, moss builds on block paving and north-facing walls stay damp longer, so seasonal tidying is worth planning in.
Requests from Hepscott lean towards woodwork and finishing. Because so many homes have character joinery, our carpentry and joinery work comes up often: planing doors, replacing a damaged section of skirting, building alcove shelving or fitting a new threshold.
Closely linked is our doors and windows service. We adjust and rehang doors, replace handles and locks, and free off windows that have stuck or stopped closing properly.
Once the repairs are done, many people like the room freshened up, so painting and decorating follows naturally, whether that is one hallway, a ceiling after a leak or the woodwork throughout.
Outside, we help with lawns, hedges and borders through our gardening services, which suits customers who would rather spend weekends enjoying the garden than wrestling with it.
Alongside these, we pick up all sorts of smaller odd jobs: hanging pictures and mirrors, fitting blinds, resealing a bath or swapping a tired tap. If it is on your list, it is worth asking.
Good to know
Hepscott is under four miles from our Ashington base, so travel time is short. We cannot promise same-day visits, but we plan routes around Morpeth regularly and will give you a realistic date when you get in touch.
Yes. Much of our work in the village is on older properties with uneven walls and original timber. We take extra care fixing into stone and lime plaster and will tell you honestly if something needs a specialist instead.
Clearing the area around the job and moving fragile items helps us get started straight away. If parking is tight on your lane, let us know where we can leave the van without blocking neighbours or farm traffic.
We tidy up as we go and can take away offcuts, packaging and small amounts of waste from the job. For larger clear-outs, mention it when booking so we can plan space in the van.
Moving in often means curtain poles, shelves, furniture assembly and a few doors that do not quite close. We can work through a list in one or two visits so the house feels like yours sooner.
Services
Every service below is available in Hepscott and the villages around it. Tap one for the full details.
From Ashington we usually head west on the A197 towards Morpeth and then cut down to Hepscott, a drive of around ten minutes in normal traffic. Lanes in the village can be narrow, so it helps if you can let us know where we can park safely near your door, especially if we are bringing a ladder or timber.
To book, give us a call on 07960 485 880 or send a message through our contact page with a short description and a photo if you have one. If you have several small jobs, list them together; one visit to tackle the lot is usually far better value for your time than separate trips.
Reviews
Fantastic experience from the first enquiry through to completion. Nothing was too much trouble, and the whole process was handled professionally. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a dependable service in Ashington.
We were really pleased with the quality of the work and the attention to detail on our IKEA flat-pack furniture. We were missing some parts, and the guys had them in their tool bag. A reliable local service we’d definitely use again.
Excellent service from start to finish. The team was friendly, professional and made everything straightforward. I’d happily recommend them to anyone in Ashington and the surrounding area.

We handle everyday repairs and improvements: carpentry, door and window adjustments, decorating, small plumbing jobs such as taps and toilets, flat-pack assembly, garden tidying and general odd jobs. If you are unsure whether something is right for us, describe it and we will give you a straight answer.
We carry out minor electrical jobs such as replacing light fittings, swapping sockets and switches like-for-like and fitting outdoor lights. Any work that is notifiable under Part P is carried out by, or signed off by, a registered electrician, so you have the right paperwork.
No. We do not carry out any gas work. For boilers, gas hobs or fires you will need a Gas Safe registered engineer. We are happy to help with the plumbing side that does not involve gas, like leaking taps or toilet repairs.
Phone us or use the contact form with a brief description and, ideally, a few photos. For straightforward jobs we can often talk it through remotely; for anything larger we will arrange a visit to look before agreeing the work.
